An excuse to blog

Yeah, the blogging every day thing isn't going so well. I also don't want to sit online and whine about my life. And frankly, things aren't going so well, so I'm trying to keep quiet. Anyhow. I'm grumpy and things feel aversive, so I'm going to go with the 10 on Tuesday theme for the day.

10 Least Liked Foods

I like food. I like to eat, and I'm a reasonably adventurous eater. That being said:

1. Organ meats. I don't care for them, won't eat them.
2. Lima beans. My mom insists they are something
3. Peas. Raw, maybe, but cooked peas gross me out.
4. Ham. I don't know, I just don't like the way it looks or smells.
5. Canteloupe. Or melon in general, come to think of it. That's a textural issue for me, as well as finding them too sweet.
6. Collard greens. Too bitter.
7. Any overcooked vegetables. I like my roughage raw.
8. Over-ripe bananas. Ick.
9. Beets. Don't care for them.
10. Brussel sprouts. Taste bitter to me.

Ten on Tuesday

Today's theme:

10 Favorite Ethnic Foods:
1. Pho Tai. (Anyone surprised? Didn't think so.)
2. Sushi - I particularly like yellowtail and tuna, but as long as it's fresh, I'm usually pleased.
3. Sashimi (yes, cheating.)
4. Miso soup.
5. Bagels and lox. The good stuff, not the little chopped up bits mixed with cream cheese. Does this count as ethnic anymore?
6. Pickled herring, in wine sauce.
7. Dal
8. Hummus
9. Thai brown curry with tofu, peanuts, and potatoes
10. Ramen

I'm back from my trip. It's still very much winter if you drive a bit north of here. I remembered to bring a scarf and a hat, but I forgot gloves. Now off to put some lotion on my chapped skin and get some desperately needed sleep.

Tuesday Ten

This week's Ten on Tuesday:
10 things you want to do in 2009

1. Run a half marathon. Really. I don't have any idea why, but I'd like to do it (by the end of the year.)
2. Eat out less and cook more. I miss cooking. It takes time and effort I frequently can't find.
3. Read more books. Again, something I miss doing, that takes time and effort I have trouble finding.
4. Find a new job. Because, well, I have to as my funding is running out.
5. Travel to a new city.
6. Go camping.
7. Learn a new skill.
8. Write a paper.
9. Knit more than I did in 2008.
10. Go shelling on the beach.
